possibly a grandson, living with Hendrick in 1850 at age 5. Not clear who his parents were. Smock family history by Anne Pette Miles lists him as a son, based on baptismal record. He married Elmira Buck, b. 5 Mar 1846 dau of Henry Buck and Alice Denise, on 19 Nov 1868.

Charles W Smock, who lived with his son, Warren H. Smock of Broad Street, died Monday of hardening of the arteries. He had been in poor health two years but had been confined to the bed only two weeks. Mr. Smock was born near Freehold 69 years ago. He had lived at Red Bank over twenty years. For seventeen years he was employed as bookkeeper at the wharf for the Merchants' steamboat company. He was a janitor of the Mechanic street school three years. He lived on Maple avenue a nunber of years.
Mr Smock leaves a wife, Elmira, and another son, Clarence E. Smock of Fair Haven. He also leaves a brother, Daniel Smock of Long Branch. Mr Smock was a member of Grace church many years. The funeral will be held this afternoon at Warren H. Smock's. Rev. James C Lord will preach the sermon. The burial will be at Fair View Cemetery.
