(from Peg Mertl, along with dates of birth, death)
"Steve Perkins has suggested that they may have been married in Albany NY. He knew that they were up in New York and are buried there. Although, Christopher's remains must have been sent back from Michigan as he had taken a 2nd wife after Rebecca."
He died of a terrible epidemic, leaving his (2nd) wife with 7 young children (none of the children from his first marriage still being at home) and the property badly encumbered.
Buried in cemetery of the old Baptist Church at Cramer's Corners south of Victory Mills, on Moe Farm. Burial record lists date of death and age 53.

Misc. Notes
Carpenter was her married name from a first marriage which left her with 5 dependent children. She had 7 more with Christopher Perkins. After his death, she moved her family westward with an Ox-team. They halted at Ira, Cayuga Co, NY, then on to Hannibal. Her children remembered hearing the bombarding of Oswego. The sons moulded bullets nights to be ready for need. They cleared two acres but could hardly raise enough to eat. They suffered many privations, but prospered materially, and her daughters spun and wove cloth, and on a loom that she made according to her directions, they wove the first rag carpet made in Fulton and Oswego counties and prospered. In 1846 she came to Michigan with her son Martin, and died among her children in Hudson, Michigan.
