Went to Westerville, OH 3 May 1853, where he was married in June. After his wife died there two years later, he returned to New Haven, Conn on 1 Sept 1855. Enlisted in Co I, 24th Reg Conn Volunteers 8 Sept, 1862. While at Baton Rouge, LA was appointed asst. to commissary Sergeant, and was Acting Commissary Sergeant thru all of the siege at Port Hudson and after until near time of the Regiment's return home. He returned with the Reg. to Middletown, Conn. and was mustered out 2 Oct, 1863. Then lived in New Haven.
Listed in New Haven in 1880 as a carpenter (49), with his wife Mary (47) and son Edward (18), a printer.
Listed at 209 Batchley Ave in New Haven in 1900, age 69; with his wife Mary. He was living in Los Angeles in 1908 when Charles and Florence Valentine visited him.
Listed in 1910 census for Long Beach as age 79 with wife Mary (74, CT) which states it is the second marriage for both of them, and that one of their two children are living, and seems to indicate that they have been married 7 yrs(?).
In 1913 he published a poem that he wrote about Connecticut, and was living at 3622 Sabina St, Los Angeles.
