Porter Solomon Fenton served over two years in the Civil War and was discharged of disability. In the fall of 1866; he settled in Cleveland, Ohio.
He is listed in the 1870 census as a carpenter (31, CT) with his wife and daughter Ada (6 mos). He is listed as a private watchman in the 1880 census. They were still living in Cleveland, Ohio in 1885, which is the birth-place of all their children. By 1900 they had moved to Madison, OH and lived the rest of their lives there.
They are buried in a cemetary in Madison, OH.
