Ned D. Conrow, age 89, of Manhattan, died Tuesday morning, July 20, 1999 at the Mercy Health Center on College Avenue in Manhattan. He was born on September 17, 1909 in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of William and Lena May (Faulk) Conrow.
Mr. Conrow was a lifetime area resident where he attended local schools including Kansas State University. He was lifelong area farmer and shortly after the 1951 flood, he began Conrow's Market on Hunter's Island. Mr. Conrow was active in the Manhattan community and was formerly on the Hunter's Island School Board for many years.
On July 25, 1933, in Coldwater, Kansas, he was married to the former Ruth Lucille Hunter. She survives at the home. Other survivors include two daughters: Lena Coffman of Minneapolis, Kansas, and Janet Howland of Manhattan, and one son: Jack Conrow of Manhattan. One sister: Ida McGehee of Manhattan, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild also survive.
Interment at Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan, Kansas. Officiating Reverend Dr. Donald Brezavar, First Christian Church.

Ruth Lucille Conrow, age 94, of Manhattan, died December 31, 2006, at St. Joseph Village.
She was born October 6, 1912, on Hunter’s Island, south of Manhattan, the daughter of John Leslie and Harriet Louise (Pauley) Hunter, and had been a lifetime resident of Hunter’s Island.
Mrs. Conrow graduated from Manhattan High School.
On July 25, 1933, in Coldwater, Kansas, she was married to Ned Dennis Conrow.
She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the Community Improvement Club, and served for many years on the Election Board. Ruth was very devoted to her family and loved playing cards with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ned on July 20, 1999. She was also preceded in death by two son-in-laws: L.W. Coffman and Warren Howland; and by two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include three children: Lena Coffman of Minneapolis, KS, Janet Howland of Manhattan, and Jack Conrow and his wife Gladys of Manhattan; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home with Reverend Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery.
