Nathaniel M. Grice enlisted on August 30, 1861 for 3 years; died from wounds received at battle of Pickett's Mills, GA May 27, 1864. He was buried at Marietta, GA. (Roster of Ohio Soldiers, Vol 11).
Nathan was killed at Atlanta, GA, having his right leg shot off with a shell. - Hardesty’s Encyclopedia (Washington Township)
Originally buried in hospital graveyard near New Hope Church battlefield.
His mother, Margaret Grice, received a Mother's pension.
