Estella C. Stanfield, age 93, of Upper Fredericktown Rd, Mount Vernon, died January 16, 2003, at the Whispering Hils Nursing Home. She was born August 21, 1909, in Berlin Township, Knox County, the daughter of Jesse and Amanda (Knootz) McIntire and had been a resident of Mount Vernon most of her life. She attended Kent State University and taught school in the Knotty Oak School and Hiawatha School. She was one of the founding members of Knox County Head Start and the Station Break. Mrs. Stanfield was an administrator of the Childhood League in Columbus and was a member of The Owl Creek Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by her daughter Emma (Gary) Krock of Bellefontaine, grandchildren Troy (Amy) Camillo, Lori (Troy) Grant and Kris Krock, great-grandchildren Nicholas Camillo, Anthony and Jacob Camillo and Alexandra Grant, sisters Laura Wilson of Sylvania, Virginia (Arthur) Wisecup of Columbus and Maxine Isett of Mount Vernon and a brother Howard (Margaret) McIntire of Fort Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Claude Stanfield, a great-granddaughter Natalie Camillo, a sister Pauline Cruse, 2 brothers George McIntire and Hoy McIntire and her first husband Dale Grice.
