A Salina woman died Saturday evening at Asbury-Salina Regional Medical Center after being taken to the hospital in critical condition following a two-car accident Saturday afternoon. Phyllis J. Dearing, 64, 916 Manchester Road, died at 7:10 p.m. from internal injuries suffered in the accident, said a supervisor at the hospital. The accident occurred at 2:18 p.m. Saturday at the corner of South Ninth and Belmont when the car Dearing was driving pulled out in front of a pickup driven by Terry Bunger, 35, 1709 W. Farrelly Road. According to witnesses, Dearing, who was headed west on Belmont, had stopped at the intersection. After checking the southbound traffic on Ninth, she pulled out in front of Bunger who was northbound on Ninth. Bunger was unable to stop and hit Dearing's car on the left side. Dearing was not wearing a seatbelt. Bunger, who was wearing his seatbelt, was not injured.
