Misc. Notes
Name appears to be spelled Kuninell, Kennell, and Kimmell on her Widow's Declaration for Pension.
Melissa is listed with her grandfather in 1860, as the age of 7.
By 1870 she was married to Robert Wells and had a daughter Levina, living not far from her grandfather in Knox Co.
Her grandfather, Daniel Kimmel, lists her and her children in his will recorded 15 Nov 1877, recorded in Knox Co box 73, file 1223.
Melissa was remarried to L.F. Hammond on 22 May 1877 by Henry Lockhart, JP. Listed with him in 1880, age 26 and born in Ohio, both parents from Penn. Her two sons are listed with the name of their step father. They are listed on North St, only a couple houses from her sister-in-law, Sarah Brentlinger.
Living in Fredericktown in 1890, when her Widow's Declaration for Pension papers were filed for her husband, Robert (lists both her marriage to Robert and to L.F. Hammond.) One of the applications is witnessed by Sade (Sarah?) Brentlinger, her husband’s half sister.
Listed on East Hamtrameb St in Mt Vernon for 1900 census, age 47 (Jan 1852), married 22 years, with 3 of her 4 children living. Their son, Herbert, age 15 was living with them. This indicates that her daughter had died prior to 1900, as both Charles and John are listed in census records. Listed as a widow, age 56 with her son, John in 1910. They were renting a house on W. Chestnut St in Mt Vernon. He is listed as age 33 and divorced. Again, it says that only 2 of her 3 children are living.
