Listed in Richland Co, OH in 1860 as a laborer (45), with his wife Sarah and 5 children - Jane (10), Mary (8), James (6), Craig (4), Elzabeth (4 mos)
In 1880, he is listed as a laborer with his wife and children Alexander and Margaret.
Died of cancer.

1983 Biographical History of Richland County Ohio, by the Richland County Genealogical Society page 189 -
James and Sarah (Riggle) Spriggins came to Troy Township, Richland County in 1849. They had been married in Washington County, Pennsylvania. the previous year. Sarah's parents, Daniel and Christena (Zimmerman) Riggle followed them to Richland County in 1850, as did her sisters: Elizabeth, wife of Henry Hainer; Lydia, who later married Isaac Baker; and Eliza, who later married Romanus Hassinger; and her brothers; John, Daniel, Harrison, and Henry.
James Spriggins was a blacksmith. He and Sarah had seven children: Cristena, born in 1849; Mary, born in 1850; James, born in 1853; Alexander Craig, born in 1858; Elizabeth, born in 1860; William, born in 1865; and Maggie Maude, born in 1874.

Christena married Albert Ruhl in 1872.
Mary married Frank O. Dowd in 1875.
James married Barbara Fleck in 1875.
Alex married Ella Mae Grice in 1892.
Elizabeth and William died young. Maggie died unmarried in 1874 of TB.

James in died in 1894 and Sarah in 1901. The crossroads where they lived was known as Spriggin's Corners. Alex Spriggins was a farmer. He and his wife Ella Grice, daughter of Caleb and Margaret ( Miller) Grice, stayed in Troy Township. They had daughters; Ora, born in 1892; Clara born in 1895; and Marie, born in 1898. Ora died unmarried in 1916. Clara died of scarlet fever at age two. Alex died at his home of a heart attack at age 53 in 1911. All three are buried in the Lexington Cemetery.
Ella was left with two young daughters and no home, as they were living on the Lindsay farm in exchange for working it.
