Mrs. Barbara Spriggins Newman died Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. J. Gray, Greenville, PA. She had been making her home in this city and had gone to the home of her daughter on a visit. Mrs. Newman is survived by her daughter and three sons, Rollen Spriggins of Alliance, William and Homer Spriggins of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Piper, also of this city. The body is expected to arrive here Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at the home of Homer Spriggins on the Wooster road Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock.

Barbara Fleck Spriggins was a huge lady. Her grand children called her "Big Gangee". She passed away at her daughter’s home in Pennsylvania, and it was said they had to put her in a piano case to bring her back to Mansfield by the train. The family stated the snow was so heavy the burial took several days to complete ’til they could get though the snow. She is buried in one of the cemeteries near Mansfield, but her resting place has not been found.
