William Nutt came from New Jersey to Fayette county, about ten or fifteen years after the close of the Revolution, in which his oldest brother, Adam Nutt, served as a scout. William Nutt married a Miss Craig; she died and left two children: Joseph Nutt and Sarah Nutt.
After her death, he married Miss Rebecca Cope, by whom he had one son, William Nutt.
