In 1920 he is listed as a blacksmith for the Coal company (24, PA) with his wife Lucy (25, PA) and daughter Martha.
He is listed with his wife, Lucy (36, PA) daughter Martha (12, PA) and son Clyde (1 9/12 PA) in the 1930 census as a blacksmith in the coal mines.
The 1940 census lists him as a blacksmith (45, PA) for the coal company, with wife Lucy (46, PA) and son Clyde A. (11, PA). It says he completed the 8th grade, Lucy 2 yrs of high school, and Clyde being in the 6th grade.

Wells, Clyde F. - Age 93 years of Perryopolis R. D. 1, died Monday, Feb. 13, 1989 in Perry Twp., a son of the late James and Joy Blair Wells. He was a member of the East Liberty Presbyterian Church, Vanderbilt, a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, Curfew Grange and 100F of Waltersburgh. He is survived by a son, Clyde A. Wells, of Strongsville, OH and daughter, Mrs Charles (Martha) Woodward of Uniontown; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, Perryopolis, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday until 11 a.m., the hour of service with Rev. George Wilson, his pastor officiating. Interment in Bowman-Flatwoods Cemetery, Vanderbilt R.D. 1

MRS. LUCY WELLS
Mrs. Lucy Wells, 56, of Perryopolis, R.D., died at her home at 3 o’clock this morning. Surviving are her husband, Clyde Wells; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Joy Woodward, of Connellsville, a son, Clyde Arthur of Cleveland, OH, and two sisters, Mrs Laura Mae Forsythe of Banning and Miss Emma Fisher of Layton.

WELLS SERVICE
The funeral for Mrs. Lucy E Wells, 56, of Perryopolis, R. D. who died at her home Monday will be held Wednesday afternoon. The body will be taken from the home to the Flatwoods Baptist Church at 1 o'clock where it will lie in state until 2:30 o'clock, the time of the service with Rev Samuel N. Harper, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
