In 1918 when he registered for the WWI Draft, he was living in Bellville and farming for S. A. Gaddis, his brother-in-law; and it was noted that he had a double hernia. But in 1920 he is listed as Herman J. (37, OH) married and living with his parents in the hauling business, without his wife.
In 1930 he is listed as a cobbler (47, OH) in a shoe store, and divorced.

married (1st) John Durbin and (2nd) Clarence Woodward.
They moved to Patterson, CA (1910-1915) after she married, then back to Ohio. In 1920 she is listed as a farmer and head of household (35, OH) with all 3 children and her mother living with them. She is married but John is not with them, as he was living with his parents.
She was listed as Mrs. Iva Durbin in 1927 when she hosted her mother's 80th birthday celebration.
In 1930 she is listed as Iva M. Durbin, widowed (although John Durbin didn't die until 1944), and was living with her brother Herman. She had her two sons with her, as well as her mother. Her daughter Eulala was married by this time.
She was apparently divorced (or not) as she is listed as Iva Durbin and marrying Clarence Woodward in Ohio Co, WV in 1932.
She provided death certificate data for her mother, Melinda Jane Bean in Dec 1936 - and was listed as Iva Woodward.
In 1940 she is listed with her (2) husband Clarence Woodward, and they were living next to her daughter Eulala and husband Homer Woodward (Clarence’s brother).
Her death record lists her as widowed and living in Mt Vernon.
