He is living with his parents, Stephen Lindo (55, RUS) and wife Sophia (43, RUS) in 1855 in New York. His father was a varnisher and had been in NY 22 yrs. The children were Rebecca (21, London), David (19, NY), Harriet (17, NY), Mary August (17, NY), Jacob (14, NY), Isaac (9, NY), and Joseph (5, NY).
Listed as a San Francisco registered voter as early as 1866, at age 25. Then listed as an express wagon (operator) in the 1872 San Francisco directory, a local policeman in the 1877, an auctioneer in 1887.
He is listed in the 1880 census on Sacramento St in San Francisco as a furniture dealer (39, NY), with his wife Mary L. (31, IRE) and brother Joseph (28, NY) a hackman. His parents are listed as being from Poland.
JACOB LINDO'S FUNERAL.
It Was Conducted by the Society of Odd Fellows. The funeral of Jacob Lindo, well known to the San Francisco public, took place yesterday at 2 o'clock p. m. from his late residence at 2419 Sutter street. There was a large attendance of friends of the deceased, the floral offerings being profuse, many of the designs being elaborate and beautiful.
The deceased was born in New York City in 1840, being at the time of his death 55 years of age. He received a common school education and in 1863 came to this City. For a number of years in the eighties he conducted a furniture-store at 609 Market street. Prior to that time he had been engaged in various lines of business. He occupied the position of Sheriff's auctioneer under Sheriff Mathew Nunan for four years, and also for a like period under Sheriff Desmond. He was also Poundkeeper in this City for four years, from 1886 to 1890. - It is said of him by those who knew him intimately that he was a very kindly generous man at heart and that during his official career, as ponndkeeper when any poor persons applied to him for their animals he would at once turn them over without one cent of cost. The funeral services were conducted by Golden Gate Lodge No. 204, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of which the deceased was a member. He leaves a widow and three children. They are comfortably provided for.
Removed from Odd Fellows cemetery SF on 14 May 1932 and re-buried at Holy Cross with James and Lillie Murphy as well as Lillian and Sophie Lindo, although hIs name is not on the marker.

Information on her and her family was primarily from David Drake's memory. She is listed as Lillie M. Murphy at Holy Cross cemetery.
She is listed as Mary L. Lindo (31, IRE) in the 1880 census with her husband.
Listed as Mrs. A. Lindo (Jan 1856, IRE) in 1900, a widow married 20 yrs and capitalist with her 3 children, living on Sutter Street. It says she immigrated in 1870, and had been here ever since. It also lists the place of birth for her 3 children's father as Ireland.
In 1910 she was Lillie Murphy (60, IRE) living on 5th Ave with her 2nd husband, son and two daughters. She immigrated in 1860 from Ireland with her parents.
In 1920 she is listed on 5th Ave in San Francisco as Lillie Murphy, a widow with her two daughters, Lillie and Sophie Lindo. She immigrated in 1865 from Ireland and was 71.
In 1930, she is listed as Lillian M. Murphy (81, NJ) and her parents born in New Jersey. She is listed with her two daughters on Fifth Ave. no longer working and daughter Lilly as head of household.
David Drake provided the information that they are buried in the Murphy plot (second husband) with the Lindo family at Holy Cross Cemetery. Interrment records show that in addition to her, her (2nd) husband, and two daughters there is also Thomas Murphy (1 Apr 1940) and Jacob Lindo (16 May 1932) buried in the same plot.
