Listed near his brothers with his first wife in Knox Co, OH in 1840 age 30-40. His wife was 20-30 and they had a son and a daughter, both between 5 and 10.
He married (2nd)Sarah Ann Wagoner in 1846. He operated a tannery in 1846 one mile north of Batemantown.
In 1850, he is listed (46, OH) as a farmer and tanner with his second wife, Sarah (23, NJ) and her(?) 5 yr old girl, William Mathew. They were listed there again in 1860 with Sarah being age 31, and another child Charles W. (Mathew?) age 8. And in 1870, Charles is listed as a Murphy, indicating that he is their son.
In 1880 they are living with Charles and his family, listed as parents and boarders.
