Misc. Notes
Son of John (1783, DE) and Rachel (1792, PA) Wood. The are listed next to him in the 1850 census.
His civil war pension record actually had a copy of their 1845 marriage record.
He is listed in 1850 as S. C. T. Woods (32, PA) a cooper, with his wife Jane (31, OH), daughter Jane (3), and son John O. (8 mos).
In 1860 he is listed in Morrow Co, OH as Samuel Wood (42, OH) a farmer with his wife and children Jane, Christian and William.
According to a letter written by his brother-in-law Benjamin B. Moats 11 Nov 1862, he enlisted in the 57th Regiment, Co. C under Capt. Mott in Anglaise Co, OH and fought in the Pittsburg Landing battle. He had not been seen or heard from since, was supposed dead. The marriage document (from pension records) also says he died in the Army, but he actually only recieved a wound in the arm, as evidenced by his listing in the 1870 and 1880 census records with his wife.
He obviously returned and they moved back to Licking County where they lived the rest of their lives. In 1870 he is listed as Samuel C. T. Wood (57, OH) with his wife and sons Christian and William.
In 1880 he is listed as Samuel C. T. Wood (62, OH) with his wife and granddaughter Lydia Painter.
