By 1920, he was remarried to Maggie Hickey of Calais and is listed as a farmer (64, ME) with wife Katie (48, ME) and adjacent to the family of his daughter Catherine & son-in-law Edwin Robb.
“Apparently John had become a successful farmer and lumberman. Maggie was quite extravagant and demanding. John spent the last few months of his life with Edwin and Catherine at the old farm. He died in 1923. After Maggie claimed her one third share of his estate there was very little left for the four girls.”
