Listed as a Dentist and a widower (41, OH) in 1920 census of Columbus, OH with his two daughters, Elizabeth (17) and Virginia (8).
He then married Kida Schramm (1896–1957) on 11 April 1920 in Franklin Co, OH.

NOBLE COUNTY NATIVE DIED AT COLUMBUS
Dr. Edward T. Johnson, 80, a native of Noble County, died Thursday in Mount Carmel Hospital. A retired dentist, Dr. Johnson had started practice in Columbus in 1901.
He was a son of William J. and Amanda Burcher Johnson.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Virginia J. Baker of the residence; one grandson; two great grandsons; and two brothers, Atty. Charles B. Johnson of Clarksburg, WV, and John R. Johnson of Pittsburgh.
The body is at the Woodyard Chapel, 255 East State Street, where services will be conducted at 7:30pm Saturday. Burial will be Sunday in Olive Cemetery at Caldwell.

Mabel is the only dau not accounted for or listed in her father's 1914 probate, so the assumption made is that the grandchildren are hers and she had died.

Mrs. Mabel C. Johnson, aged 33 years, and the wife of Dr. Edward Theodore Johnson, a dentist of Newark, OH, died at Mount Carmel Hospital at Columbus Wednesday after an illness of several months. The remains were brought to the home of her parents, A. C. Cooper and wife, on Main Street, Thursday evening.
She is survived by the husband and two small children, Elizabeth and Virginia. Funeral services will be held in the M. E. Church Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Norris. Internment in the Olive cemetery.

DEATH TOLL IN TRAFFIC REACHES 13
Mrs. Kida Johnson, 61, of Columbus, who died at 7:30pm Monday in St. Anthony Hospital, is the 13th traffic fatality in Licking County so far this year.
Mrs. Johnson, the wife of Dr. Edward Theodore Johnson, 78, a former Newark dentist, died of injuries sustained in an auto accident May 26 near the intersection of State Routes 16 and 310. She had been in critical condition ever since the accident.
Dr. and Mrs. Johnson were eastbound on Route 16 at the time of the accident on their way to the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Allbaugh, 52 Riverview Drive, Newark.
Mrs. Johnson, a 35-year employee of the main business office of the Columbus Bell Telephone Company, is survived by three sisters, two in Columbus and one in Shadyside, Ohio; a brother in California; and a son and four grandchildren of Columbus.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday at a Columbus funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
