Misc. Notes
Phil Kartusinsky came over in 1892 and married Rose/Rosie in 1898.
Philip is first recorded via his marriage to Rosie Kalmonwitz in the Bronx in 1898.
His family is listed in the 1905 NY state census, at 803 E. 147th St in the Bronx. He is listed as being in leather goods (29, Russia), in the US for 12 yrs, with wife Rosie (25, Russia) in the US for 17 yrs, and children Mary (7) and Sadie (1) born in NY. They also had a boarder, Pink Kalmuroff, living with them.
Listed in the Bronx in 1910 at 318 E. 145th St as Philip Kartusinsky (38, RUS), with his wife and children Mary (11), Sadie (6) and Samuel (4) - indexed as Kartushinsky. Living with them was his nephew Max Kartushinsky (Carter). It shows they immigrated in 1892, and that he was a maker of suit cases.
Still there on E. 145th in 1915, with Philip (40) and Rosie (37) from Russia and still aliens after 21 yrs in the US; along with Mary (16), Sadie (11) and Sanford (9) born in NY.
Listed in 1917 city directory for 964 Forest ave, in leather goods, and he brought a civil case to court in 1918 against Patrick Murphy (was this related to his son being hit by a car?)

Strangely, they changed their name to KARR for the 1920 census, with Philip (45, RUS) and Rose (42, RUS) having immigrated in 1895 and naturalized, with daughers Mary (21, NY) and Sadie (15, NY) living at home.
He died 10 Oct 1923, while living at 444 East 146 St in the Bronx. His death record lists his parents as Israel and Rose Karr, his birth in 1876, and having been in the US 28 yrs.

Her maiden name is listed as Kalminoff and Kalmanoff on their children’s death records.
The 1905 census lists her as having been in the US for 17 yrs, implying that she immigrated in 1888 (age 13). However, the 1910 census shows them both as having immigrated in 1892, and the 1915 census says they were both in the US for 21 yrs (1894).
By 1925 Philip had died and Rose (50, RUS) was listed as head of household and a citizen by marriage. With her are daughter Sadie (20, NY) working as a stenographer, and daughter Mary Reines (23, NY) with husband Benjamin Reines (24) a lunchroom manager, with their 11 week old son Philip Reines.
