Daughter of Everett Robert Piercy (1895 – 1979) and Grace Pauline Eddy (1898 – 1941).
Virginia comes from the great unwanted of Norfolk. It appears her ancestors, Robert and Sarah Piercy, were a burden on the Parish of Reepham in Norfolk. In 1834 the total parish relief was 2 pounds 16 shillings and 2 pence for the family of 2 adults and 4 children. That does not seem a great amount to warrant such a drastic step as exiling a family. The parish, aka the church, in their wisdom placed that family and quite a few other families on a boat to Upper Canada. The only one of that family which has been traced is Virginia’s G grandfather Isaac Piercy.
