Misc. Notes
Enoch White left his wife and two young sons and went to California to find gold. He never came back. His father apparently expended considerable resources trying to trace him but the family apparently did not know where he was for some time.
It appears that he is listed in the 1860 census for Tuolumne Co, CA as E. J. White, a miner (30, VT).
The only evidence we have that he was found was a letter sent to Enoch Sr. in 1872 from Simon Hussey [in possession of Murl White] of Mokelumne Station, CA, saying that Enoch worked for him. Enoch served two terms in the Civil War - Western campaign.
