[Obituary] Hampton Chronicle - 7 Feb 1901
Chas. Westaby died at his residence on Second Street at 1:00 o’clock Tues. Feb 5. He was born at Barrow-on-Humber, Lincolnshire, England Feb. 15, 1851 and came to America in 1872 locating in Thompson, Jo Davies Co, IL and moved to Franklin Co March 12, 1876, settling first in Reeve Township. Jan. 16, 1877 he was married to Mary B. Hanson at Gratiot, Wis., who survives him. They have never had any children. In the spring of 1873, he moved to Alexander and resided there, with the exception of 2 years spent in Hampton, until 2 years ago when he and his wife decided to make their permanent home here. Besides his wife, Mr. Westaby leaves two sisters and a brother in England and 2 nephews and a niece in this country. Mrs. Westaby is a sister of Hans & O.M. Hanson of Dows, H. M. Mendell of Morgan Township. The funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the M.E. Church, Rev. H.W. Troy officiating and the burial will be in the Hampton cemetery.

He had 2 daughters by Matilda; Mary E. White b. 10 Dec 1860 in Geneva, Franklin Co, IA and Ora Wilson White, b. 19 Jan 1866 in Hampden, Iowa.
In 1870 he is listed as living along with his daughter Ora (4) in the home of D. G. Carbaugh.
The 1885 census for Hampton, IA shows Henry with wife Mercy and children Bertha (12), Gaylor (11), Eddie (8), and Edith V. (5).
