Alberta "Bertie" Wiggins, 70, of 9182 Mount Gilead Road, Fredericktown, died March 21, 2001, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 11, 1931, in Knox County and had spent her lifetime in the Fredericktown area. Bertie founded and operated the former Bertie's Town and Country Restaurant in Fredericktown, and for four years operated the Fredericktown Dairy Queen. She was a member of the Palmyra Church of Christ and the Dogwood Blossoms Chapter of Sweet Adelines. She was also a 50-year member of Berlin Grange.
Surviving are two daughters, Diana Wiggins of Fredericktown and Marcia (Duane) Shinaberry of Mount Gilead; two grandchildren, Scott Shinaberry and Michelle Shinaberry of Mount Gilead; her mother, Geneva (Gaddis) Mowry of Fredericktown; and her sister, Naomi (Floyd) Tharp of Lakeland, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Mowry; her daughter, Linda Dwyer, and brother Lloyd Mowry.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 25th at 2 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Burial was in Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown, Ohio.
