FORMER COUNTY OFFICIAL DIES - Albert Evans, Farmer, Succumbs After Severe Attack of Blood Poisoning.
Albert Evans, 82 years old, former superintendent of the county infirmary southwest of the city, died last night at 10:50 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Spurgin, 844 Cottage avenue. His death was due to complication of diseases with which he had been ill for about two years, but was hastened by blood poisoning due to an injury he sustained to his hand while chopping wood a few weeks ago. He was in the county hospital for a time but was moved to his daughter’s home recently. Since being stricken with the poisoning he has been totlally blind.
Mr. Evans was born and reared in this county and spent all his life here. He engaged in farming from early age and for four years was superintendent of the county farm. Later he located on a farm west of the city and lived there until brought to the hospital here. He was a well liked man and respected by all who knew him. He was member of the Christian church and regular in attendance. His wife and daugher, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren survive.
