Misc. Notes
Living with his parents in 1860.
Listed as a farm hand with the family of Cecelia Wells and her 5 children in 1870. It is possible that Cecelia was widowed and Albert was helping her out, since he was still at home with his father in the 1865 state census of Wayne County. Based on his Will, his obituary and the family Bible which lists only one marriage, it is fairly certain that he was married only once (to Mary).
Their first child was a daughter born in 1872, who also died as an infant that year and is buried in the Wells Cemetery with them.
Listed in the same location in 1880 as a farmer (35, IN) with his wife, Mary E. (27, IN) and children Lilly (6), William (4) and Mary (3mos). In 1900 Albert and Mary E. are still in Zif w/ daughters Lillie E. and Nancy J. Still listed in Zif Twp, Wayne Co, IL in the 1910 census, as a farmer (65) with his wife Mary (58), married 38 yrs with 3 of their 5 children living. Also listed is daughter Lilly E. Atris(sp?) (38) who has been married 6 yrs with 4 children: Chas A. (6), Mary (6), Heather (3), and Clarence (8 mos).
In 1914 he signed an affadavit for the military pension application of his brother Wilson’s widow.
In 1920, he is listed as 75, widowed and living with his son-in-law Lafe Duke and dau Jane (38) with their sons Gerald and Pearl.
