George Kilpatrick was born 1779 in Ireland and his wife Maria Humphrey in 1787, they married on Aug 7, 1805, and eleven children were born to them. George's Naturalization Petition from the Delaware County records found in the basement of Delhi Town Hall is dated 29 February 1816 was witnessed by Richard Kilpatrick and Cyranius Foote. It says; "the said George Kilpatrick has resided within the limits, and under the jurisdiction of the United States between the 14th of June 1798 and the 14th day of April 1802 and has continued to reside there ever since." Richard Kilpatrick filed at the same time, giving the same dates. Both George and Richard gave their origins Armagh, Ireland, but neither mentioned a parent.
"The farm now (Mar 11, 1875) owned by several of the Kilpatrick's was owned by Silas C. Johnson. His house stood where George Kilpatrick's old house stands and was a part of the same as far back as 1799." This farm was a large tract of land extending up West Brook valley north of Walton, NY. As each son married he was given a farm from his father's farm. William and James lived on farms adjoining. Robert went to live in Lexington, NY.
