Misc. Notes
Samuel was the sixth of Andrew and Mary Jane Caswell’s children. He immigrated from Ireland in 1848 according to the 1901 census.
Samuel married Emily Christina Humphage (b. 1854) on 28 Dec 1871 and lived in Palmerston for many years, where his 8 children were born. In 1881 he is living there with his wife and 4 daughters as a photographer, next to his widowed mother and 5 of her sons. Still there in 1901 with his wife Emily, and children Ella G. (26), Ida M. (22), Hattie Louise (18), William H. (15), Ethel E. (12), and Gordon G. (8).
He finally moved to Saskatchewan, homesteading near Juniata, about 30 mi. west of Saskatoon. He and sons Will and Gordon came west in 1903 and the rest of the family in 1904 (if memory serves me right). Samuel (70) and Emily (62) are listed there in the 1916 census by themselves, and again in 1921 where he is listed as a farmer, immigrated in 1852.
Sam and wife Emily were buried in Perdue, Saskatchewan.
