He moved to Benton Co, Iowa in 1857.
He appears as Simon (Simson) G. Wells in the 1860 census for Fremont Twp, Benton Co, IA as a farmer (28) with $1,100 of land. With him are his wife and 3 oldest children.
Listed as Simpson Wills (36) in 1870 census for Fayette, IA farming with his wife and oldest 6 children.
Listed as Simson (47) in Marion, IA for the 1880 census with his wife and 6 children (Emma was not listed, probably married). A family photo shows them all together in the mid 1880’s in Marion.
The family moved to Cullison, Pratt Co, KS in 1887, and then to Fairview, Major Co, OK in 1894.
He is listed with the family of his son Junius in 1900 and again and widowed in 1910.

Smpson T. Wells was born in Greensburg, Ind. April 13, 1832, died in Fairview, Okla. at the home of his son, J. E. Wells, July 29, 1919, aged 87 years, 3 months, 17 days. He weas married February 23, 1853, to Jane Douglass, who preceded him in death 16 years, to this union were born 7 children, 4 sons and 3 daughters, they are: Jacob L., Junius E., John D. and Charles C. Wells, Ravavah Wells, Mrs. C. W. Long and Mrs. C. W. Horton, all of whom live in and near Fairview and were present at the funeral.
In 1857 Brother Wells moved to Iowa, where he resided until 1885, when he moved to Kansas, living there until the opening of the Strip, when he came to Oklahoma, settled on a place 4 miles east of Fairview, where he has lived until about a year ago, when he came with his son to Fairview.
He united with the Church of God in 1875 and has lived a consistent Christian life, strong in the hope of a coming Savior and a home in the earth made new.
Funeral services were conducted by Brother S. S. Davison and interment made at Rusk cemetery.

Her father was Leander F. Douglass according to some info collected by Dorothy Sampson, and verified by the 1850 census. She is listed with her parents in the 1850 census for Clay Twp, Decatur Co, IN.
She had a younger brother David, who fought in the Civil War, and is probably the witness to the will of Richard Wells, Simpson’s grandfather.
In 1900 she (70, IN) is listed in the census with her son Charles and his new bride in Fairview OK. She is listed as married 47 yrs, and both parents born in Kentucky, but her husband is listed with their son Junius.
