Junis Wells actually waited and made the run the next day since September 16th was a Saturday, and he was a Seventh Day church member. The opening of the Cherokee Strip on September 16, 1893 brought seventh day observing families to the Oklahoma Territory and by the spring of 1894 Bible studies were moved from covered wagons, sod homes and dug outs to a sod school house four miles west of Fairview. The Wells, Webster, Douglas & Horton families were ministered to by J.R. Goodenough, a church minister who came and filed a claim in 1896.
In 1900 he is shown living with his wife, two sons, daugher Nina and his father in Deep Creek, Oklahoma Territory; with only 3 of their 5 children living.
Listed as a farmer age 51, married 24 years with 3 of his 5 children living in 1910. Listed with him are his wife, Roy, Pearlie and Nina; as well as his (now widowed) father, just as in 1900.
