Bio from History of Knox County -
Timothy Colopy, a warm-hearted Irishman, had lived in Maryland and Virginia until 1813, when he settled in this (Miller) township. He died in Mt. Vernon in his 68th year, and his widow died about 1852, aged 72 years. His surviving children were Jacob, Mary - Mrs. Levi Sapp, Sarah - Mrs. F. J. Zimmmerman, and Matilda - wife of H. Conley in Iowa. Timothy was a devout Catholic and a zealous Democrat, liberal and generous, public-spirited and benevolent. He was an excellent Justice of the Peace, and a much-esteemed citizen.
Other references in the book list Timothy as a Judges clerk in 1820, Justice of the Peace (Miller Twp) in 1831, Justice of the Peace (Clinton Twp) in 1837, and Infirmary Director in 1851.
About 1816 Timothy Colopy and William Colopy, brothers, formerly from Ireland, were the first to locate in the northeast quarter of the (Miller) township. Timothy purchased lot No. 6. He had a good education, was a man of good natural ability, and much respected by his neighbors.

He was a native of Ireland, came when a young man to America, and settled in the State of Maryland, and some years later moved to a farm in the vicinity of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, spending his last years in the city of Mt. Vernon, where he died when past sixty years of age. He was an active Catholic, and his body now rests in the Catholic Cemetery at Danville, Ohio, beside that of his wife. His wife, who was born in Maryland, was a convert to the Catholic Church. Their home in Mt. Vernon was the first meeting place for the Catholic Church in that vicinity. The children of Timothy Colopy and wife were named as follows: Jacob, Mary, Sarah, Benjamin, Mrs. Conley and William. All of these married except William and Benjamin and all are now deceased (1912). The son William was a California forty-niner, and died in that State. (from Centennial History of Grant County Indiana 1812-1912. The Lewis Publishing Co., 1914)
