DEATH CALLS ANOTHER MACGREGOR PIONEER
Geo. Wells, a pioneer of the MacGregor district, having lived here for the past thirty years, died Friday night, Feb 2nd, after several weeks illness. Mr. Wells was 87 years old and formerly lived at Aultsville, Ont., before coming west. For a time he was employed rail-roading and was the first sction foreman at Tosser for the Canadian Pacific railway, after which time he farmed for many years two miles north-west of MacGregor.
Mr. Wells and his wife moved into town about ten years ago, and lived with their nephew, Frank Southworth. Deceased leaves two sisters, Mrs. Martin, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Summers, Osnabruck Centre, Ont., also Mrs. D. A. Shaw and J. F. and Miss Southworth, neices and nephew. Mrs. Wells predeceased her husband about five years ago. Mr. Wells was a member of the Anglican church.
The funeral took place on Sunday to the MacGregor cemetery, the services being conducted by Rev. Mr. Hodkinson, of Sidney, in St. Paul’s church, the resident minister, Rev. C. E. Copeland, being indisposed with an attack of bronchitis. Many attended the service in the church, but were prevented from following to the graveside on account of the severe cold.

Mrs. George Wells
MacGregor mourns the loss of an old settler in the person of Mrs. George Wells, who passed to her rest on Wednesday morning, 15th of August, at the age of seventy-four years.
The funeral, which was conducted by Revs. C. G. M. Litter and J. I. Walker, was held this afternoon from the residence of Frank Southworth, to the MacGregor cemetery. A large number of old-timers and friends were present.
Mrs. Wells was born in Dundas County, Ont., and came west with her husband in 1884. They moved into the MacGregor district in 1894 and for several years lived on a farm north of town. They moved into town about four years ago to reside with Mr. and Mrs. Southworth, as whose home she passed away.
The deepest sympathy of the people of the community is extended to Mr. Wells in his bereavement.
