They had two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Loraine) Love (m. 12 Dec 1938) and Mrs. Ancel (Lois) Ashley; two sons, Lester and Lloyd, 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; all living in Massena. Mrs. Lawrence had two sisters, Mrs. Grace Cole, Louisville, and Mrs. Willa Canough, Ingleside, Ont., and two brothers, Arthur and Charles Wells, East Syracuse. (1958)

MRS. SAMUEL LAWRENCE - Funeral services for Mrs. Flossie M. Wells Lawrence, 81, wife of Samuel Lawrence, 92 North Main St, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Donaldson Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Lampard, pastor of the Advent Christian Church, officiated. The body was placed in the vault for later burial in Louisville.
Mrs. Lawrence died in Massena Memorial Hospital at 12:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Apr. 13, 1972. She had been hospitalized at various times during the past few months. Surviving are the husband; one daughter, Mrs. Ancel J. (Lois) Ashley, and two sons, Lester and Lloyd S. Lawrence, all of Massena; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Grace) Cole, Waddington, and Mrs, Foster (Willa) Hilyard, Ingleside, Ont.; two brothers, Charles and Arthur Wells, both of Syracuse.
Mrs. Lawrence was born July 26, 1890, a daughter of Cornelius and Emma Casselman Wells, in East Williamsburg, Ont. She attended schools in Canada and she and Samuel Lawrence, Louisville, were married in the Methodist parsonage in Aultsville, Ont., Oct 21, 1908, by the Rev. Mr. Stilwell, then pastor. Since their marriage, they have resided in Louisville and Massena.
Mrs. Lawrence was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Massena, the WCTU and St. Lawrence Rebekah Lodge 348, Rebekahs.

MASSENA — Funeral services for Samuel I. Lawrence, 98, a resident of the Highland Nursing Home, will be held today at 10 a.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena with Rev. Stanley E. Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Louisville Community Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home were held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Mr. Lawrence died at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday morning (June 25,1985) at the nursing home where he had been a resident since November of 1983.
Surviving are two sons, Lester C. and Lloyd S., both of Massena; a daughter, Mrs. Ancel (Lois) Ashley of Massena; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Lawrence was born in Louisville on Feb. 19, 1887, son of Royal W. and Celia Weegar Lawrence. He married Flossie M. Wells on Nov. 21, 1908 in Aultsville, Ont. Mrs. Lawrence died April 13, 1972. Mr. Lawrence was a retired dairy farmer.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
