Mr. and Mrs. Alton Gregory, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Lawrence, and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Lawrence attended the funeral of their aunt Mrs. Ethel Wells Lawrence, wife of George O. Lawrence of Lisbon, which was held at the Congregational Church in Lisbon, at 2 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Lawrence was a member and past historian of Fulton Chapter OES of Waddington.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sutton, and Herbert Sutton also attended.

George O. Lawrence, Sr.
LISBON — Graveside services for George O. Lawrence, Sr., 88, of Cobbs Street Extension, Groton, NY, and formerly of Lisbon, were held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the White Church Cemetery in Lisbon. The Waddington Masonic Lodge 393 held masonic committal services at the cemetery. The Fox Funeral Home in Ogdensburg was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Lawrence died Feb. 24 at the Cortland, N.Y., Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Surviving are two sons, George, Jr. of Groton, NY and Glyndon of Cory, PA; two daughters, Mrs. Aletha McCormick of Groton and Mrs. Robert (Gwendolyn) Woods of Cortland; two brothers, Samuel and Charles, both of Massena; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Lawrence was born in Louisville on Aug. 8, 1893, son of Royal and Celia (Weegar) Lawrence. He was a self-employed carpenter and farmer for many years in the Lisbon area until moving to Groton, NY, in 1975. He married Ethel D. Wells who died in 1951. He also married Mildred Hagerman who died in 1975. Mr. Lawrence was a member of the Waddington Lodge 393 F&AM and the First Congregational Church In Lisbon.
