MRS. FOSTER HILLIARD
Waddington — Mrs. Willa Wells Canough Hilliard, 73, wife of Foster Hilliard of Cornwall, Ont., Canada, and sister of Mrs. Grace V. Cole of Waddington, died Thursday night (Jan. 9, 1974) at the Cornwall General Hospital. She had been hospitalized since Monday and had reportedly suffered three slight strokes. She had undergone surgery earlier in the day Thursday.
Surviving besides her husband and sister, Mrs. Cole, are five children by a previous marriage; Harry Canough and Mrs. Simeon (Ruth) Langevin, both of Massena, Gordon Canough of St. Catherine's Canada, Allen Canough of Cornwall, and Neil Canough of Montreal; two brothers, Charles and Arthur Wells, both of Syracuse; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hilliard was born at East Williamsburg, Canada, June 18, 1901, a daughter of Corneilius and Emma Casselman Wells. Her first husband, Ernest Canough, died in 1960. She was married to Foster Hilliard in January of 1962. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is buried with her first husband in Long Sault Union Cem.
