Misc. Notes
There has always been a story of him having a twin brother and per the story when they were young and traveling on a wagon, William fell off and hurt his leg and had a limp for the rest of his life. He did walk with a cane the rest of his life. Have no idea what happened to his twin brother. Susposedly originally William’s family came through West Virginia to Ohio.
His birth date is listed as March 1837 in the 1900 census, but census records list a variety of years, while his tombstone and death certificate indicate 1836, and family members suggest 1830/31.
All of the living family members said his middle name was Wallace and one of the relatives said he was named after him and his name is Wallace.
There is a Wm Misner listed in Butler Co, OH, age 13 with his widowed mother, twin brother David and an older sister in the 1850 census and as age 22 in the 1860 census records. Assumption is that this is him.
He is listed in 1870 as a farm laborer (35, OH) with his wife Nancy C. (22, IN), son Wm A. (2, IN) and dau Corna E. (6mos, IN).
He is listed in 1880 as William (49, OH) working on a farm with his wife Nancy C. (35, IN) in Jackson Twp, Decatur Co, IN and their 5 chlidren.
He is listed as William (63, OH) in 1900 with his wife Nancy C. (53, IN) married 34 years with 9 of their 11 children living, but only Wm, Orpha, Charlie and George with them. He is a day laborer.
He is Wm (75, OH) with wife Nancy (60, IN) who are listed with son Albert in 1910 as married 41 yrs in the first marriage for both of them, with 9 of their 11 children living. He is still listed as a farm laborer.
He is listed again with son Albert as William W. in 1920 (83, OH) with his wife Nancy (73, IN) and son Charlie.
In 1930 he is listed as William (94, OH) with son Albert in Jennings Co, IN. His birth certificate in 1933 lists his age as 97 (1836).
