Listed as Joseph L. Wells with his parents in 1900 and again in 1910 after his marriage to Stella.
His marriage record to Stella in Shelby Co, has his name as Roy Wells, as do many other records.
In 1910, they are living with his parents, married 0 yrs, with 5 month old daughter Mildred M.
His registration card for Joseph LeRoy Wells during WWI in June 1917 lists his birth date, and residence as Earl Park, Benton Co, IN, working as a section Foreman for CCC & St Louis RR Co, with a wife and two children. He is listed as tall, stout, blue eyes, brown hair. Their daughter Mildred, died in May 1917.
In 1920 he is listed as Roy J. Wells and still in Earl Park, with his wife Stella (29, IN) and sons Walter E. (6, IN) and Raymond C. (3 1/12, IN)
By 1930 he had moved to Cook Co, IL and was listed as Roy L. Wells a Foreman on the Steam Railroad, with his wife Estella M., both sons and a new daughter, Martha C. (8, IL).
His death record is listed simply under Roy, and he died before his father, who died in 1937. It also lists his birth as 5 Dec 1887.

Roy, Wells, 43 years old, Matteson, section foreman for the Illinois Central railroad, died of a heart attack near his home yesterday while on his way to work.

Listed in 1900 at age 9 with her parents, Marion Pope and Carrie Hammond in Noble Twp, Shelby Co, IN. Listed in most later records as Stella May Wells, such as 1910 census, marriage record, and her headstone with Roy, etc.
She was remarried to Sidney J. Waldo (1892, IA-1969, WI) and listed with him in the 1940 census in Waukesha, WI. The family included Gladys (17, WI) and Raymond (13, WI) Waldo, as well as Raymond (24, IN) Wells. Sidney was a hospital orderly, with an 6th grade education, and Estella (49, IN) completed the 8th grade. It says that she lived in Joliet, IL in 1935.
