Blanchat, Alfred “Tubby,” 93, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010. Rosary will be Monday, September 20 at 7 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass, Tuesday, September 21 at 10 a.m., both at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Tubby was born in Danville, KS, on August 10, 1917. He was a twice decorated Purple Heart recipient who took part in the Omaha Beach landing in WWII. He is preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Mary (Colopy); brothers, George, Clifford, Elmer and Harold; sisters, Mary Martina, Magdalen, and Helen. Survivors include wife of 65 years, Josephine "Jo"; sons, Gary of Conroe, TX, Ron (Val) of McPherson, and Don (Vivian) of Bushton; daughter, Wanda (Herb) Winter of Colwich; 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
