Listed as Joseph Blencherd at age 3 with the family of John Gary in 1870 census. Then listed both with his grandparents and as Peter J. with his parents in 1880 at age 14.
It is not certain that Joseph P. is the son of Joseph, as he is listed with another family in 1870 and with his grandparents in 1880; indicating that his parents may have been divorced or no longer living. But since later census records show his father as born in Switzerland and mother Ohio, it seems that he must be the son of James, Joseph or Hector.
Listed as Joseph Blanchard with his bride of 1 year, adjacent to her brother “Edward” in 1900 as a farmer (32, OH). Listed only as J.P. Blanchat in 1910, with his wife and 4 living children of 5.
Listed as Joseph P. Blanchet in 1920 with his wife and 4 sons and 2 daughters. And in 1930 he is listed as Joseph H. Blanchat, with his wife and two youngest children.
