In 1910 he was a meat cutter in a packing house. married and living on Division St in Indianapolis with his wife, Ethel (25, IN) and son Robert (5, IN).
He was divorced before he registered for the WWI Draft in 1918, since he was living with his parents again at the time.
He remarried Elizabeth “Minnie” Groeschel (1895, IN), with whom he is listed as a salesman in 1920 and cook in a restaurant in 1930; while she is listed as a waitress. Her mother is also listed with them in 1920 as Elizabeth Groeschel (1861, IN).
He is listed as single on his death certificate.

Listed as head of household and widowed in 1930, working as a saleslady in the market. Her son Robert (25, IN) is also living with her, and a store manager for an accessories store. They also have a lodger living with them.
Her obituary in the Monday, December 12, 1938 Indianapolis Star, pg 19 referenced her sister Mrs. William Goodwin of Indianapolis and brother Sheridan Waggy of Los Angeles.
