Roy Benjamin "Ben" Wells, 74, of Noble, died at 7:36 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 1995 at Lawrence County Hospital in Lawrenceville.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Zirkle Funeral Home in Olney, with Rev. Mike Baker and Rev. Joe Eggebrecht officiating. Burial will be in the Crest Haven Memorial Park in Olney. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Full military rites will be performed at the graveside by the Olney veteran organizations.
Wells was born June 15, 1921 in Decker Township, Richland County, the son of William T. and Maude M. (Montgomery) Wells. He married Sallie Wheeler March 25, 1949 in Chicago.
He was a member of the Antioch Christian Church and worked as postal clerk at the Noble Post Office for 40 years. He coached and umpired Noble Little League and was a veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, of Noble; a son, Beanie Wells and his wife, Janet of Dallas, Texas; four daughters, Cathie Fuller, of San Antonio, Texas, Sallie York and her husband, Derek, of Noble, Neita Lenear and her husband, David, of Olney, and Rebecca Lomas and her husband, Jack, of West Salem; one brother, David Wells, of Highland; two sisters, Lola Wade of Noble, and Jessie Greeson, of Highland; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
He had Parkinsons disease.
