Bennie “Ben” Lee Wells, 65, was born to parents, Roy Benjamin Wells and Sarah Wheeler on a Sunday, March 1, 1953 in Olney, IL. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in Garland, Texas. Bennie was employed by Texas Instruments for 32 years. Ben is preceded in death by both his parents and is survived by his loving wife, Janet Kauffman Wells of almost 45 years; his children Michelle (Kevin) Fowler of Garland and Christopher Wells also of Garland; sisters, Cathie (John) Holden, Sallie (Derek) York, Neita Lenear, Becca Lomas; 2 grandchildren, Caleb and Megan, and many nieces and nephews. Ben had a great love of hunting, played basketball for 60 years, and enjoyed spending time outdoors, however his absolute greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and family. His latest hobby was growing sunflowers, and becoming quite good at it. Ben was served as a proud Sargent in the US Marine Corps in Vietnam.
The family request that visiting hours be observed at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. A memorial service for Mr. Wells will be held 11am on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Restland Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. Ben was always known for wearing comfortable clothes!!! In his honor the family requests that guests do the same. Please put on your jeans and T-Shirts and leave the formal attire at home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Heart Association in Bennie’s name. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243, (972-238-7111).
