Margaret Walts Ligon, seeker of the finer things in life, peacefully set off on a new journey on February 4, 2006. She was born in Reno, NV on August 17, 1909 to Guy W. Walts and Mattie Parker Walts, and was a 1928 graduate of Reno High School. Margaret spent her early years with her parents on their sheep ranch in Verdi, NV. Margaret attended the University of Nevada and graduated in 1932, where she served as Vice President of the Student Body and was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. On April 15, 1935 she married her college "sweetheart", Bill A. Ligon, Sr. As a supportive wife and mother, she was passionate about gardening, playing bridge (for money), traveling, politics, and finding the perfect tomato, among other things. "Mar-ger" or "Mar-mar", as she was known to her grandchildren, passed on her kitchen secrets to them, and will forever be 39 years old in their eyes. Margaret's wittiness, smile, and desire to "get-out and do things" will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill A. Ligon, Sr., and survived by her son, Bill A. Ligon, Jr., and wife Sarah; five grandchildren; four great-grand children, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 9, 2006 from 4pm to 6pm at the Walton Funeral Home, Reno. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, February 10, 2006 at 1 pm at the Walton Funeral Home. Private entombment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Walton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
