Misc. Notes
Listed as a RR clerk age 19 with his mother in 1880.
Their marriage license for 2 Sept 1891 shows him as a carpenter, age 30, born in Joliet IL, and it is his first marriage. His parents are listed as Richard English and Ana Carew.
Listed with his wife, 2 sons and twin daughters in Cairo, IL in 1900. He is listed as age 38, born Oct 1861, a postal clerk married (almost) 9 years, with 4 of his 5 children living. His father and mother are both listed as born in Ireland. He was renting his home at 526 Eleventh North in Cairo. They had a 15 yr old servant girl living with them, Grace Little.
After moving to California in 1904, they were renting at 93 Twelfth Street, San Francisco in 1910. He is listed as age 39, married 18 years. He is a carpenter working in the laundry business. Same info for his parents birthplace. Again they are listed with 4 of their 5 children living, but this time the oldest son, John is missing and has been replaced by a 17 year old daughter named Zelda G. English, who is working as a cashier in a Dept Store. One possible explanation I can think of is that John and Zelda may have been twins, with one missing from each census.
Will was with his brother, Richard when Richard fell off the roof of the Le Grands Laundry on 14 March 1915. He was giving a bid for a roof repair. Will found his brother when he fell.
His wife died the following year, in the State (mental) Hospital, where she had been most of the time since 1913.
He is listed in the San Francisco 1920 census with his second wife Emma Monaton (49, CAN).
