An accident fractured his skull and killed him while he was working on a clay feeder, used in the manufacture of brick. He was working at the Mansfield Shale Products company. He lived at home with his father on Possum Run road.
Survivors: 5 brothers - Gottfried Jr, John, Philip, Fred and Benjamin; 6 sisters - Mrs Michael Dinger, Mrs Eugene Wehinger and Barbara, Martha, Margaret and Catherine, all of Mansfield.
