She never remarried after Ray died. She lived in a retirement/nursing home in Minneapolis, where she resided for a long time.

Johnson, Ruth Viola Stolee Died on February 3, 2012 at the age of 88. She now joins her beloved husband Ray whom she had missed deeply for 22 years. Ruth was born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on September 3, 1923, the third daughter of Anna and Haakon Stolee. She attended St. Olaf College where she met Raymond Johnson whom she married on February 2, 1946. They raised their four children in Bloomington, Minnesota. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Ray. She is survived by her sons Dan and Steve (Margie), her daughters Kathy (Kevin) and Cindy (Jerry), her grandchildren Renae, Sonja, Luke, Michael and Nick, and great-grandchildren Adam and Ellyanna. Ruth's life will be celebrated in a memorial service on Saturday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 8600 Fremont Ave. S., Bloomington, MN.
