She married Charles R. Porter in 1925 and in 1930 was listed as Dorothy M. Porter (23, IN), Charles R Porter (26, IN) and daughter Margie J. (b. 1 Jul 1925, IN) living with her parents, Wm and Rachel Wells.
In 1940 she is listed with her husband Charles (36, IN) and daughter Margie Jean. (14), where is says that both she and her husband had completed high school.
Still living in Indianapolis in 1947 when her father died.
They were divorced, and Dorothy Porter was married to William C. Elsen on 25 Nov 1958 in Marion Co, IN. She is listed as Dorothy M. Wells on his death certificate in 1968.

Services for Dorothy May Porter Elsen, 78, Indianapolis, were today in Flanner & Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary. Mrs. Elsen died Saturday in Hinsdale (III.) Hospital. She was a nurse at the former Riverside Roller Rink. Mrs. Elsen was a member of St John Episcopal Church in Lockport, III. Survivor - daughter Margie Jean Jackson.
