Misc. Notes
Nettie is shown as born Jun 1898, but only age 1 yr in the June 25th 1900 census, living with her parents in Lafayette, IN. So it is unclear whether she was born in 1898 or 1899. She is listed as Nellie on her marriage record.
Listed as Nettie Wells with her mother and step-father George Tanco in 1910. Then listed as Nettie Wells (21, IN) in 1920 with her aunt Emma (Wells) Tripp and Emma’s step-son Harry C. Tripp, while working as a seamstress in a Dept store.
Later that year she married Harry on 3 Apr 1920 in Fountain Co, IN. where her birth date is shown as 3 Jun 1899.
In 1930 she is listed as Nettie Tripp (29, IN) with Harry (38, IN) a foreman for Union Station.
She is listed as Nettie Tripp (40, IN) a widowed housewife living in her own home with an 8th grade education in 1940.
Listed in Indianapolis City Directories as Nettie Tripp as late as 1952.
There is a marriage record(?) for her as Nettie Tripp (b. 3 Jun 1899) and widowed which lists Rev. Pulaski Estel Smith (b. 31 Jan 1890 - Shoals, Martin Co, IN) a minister in Warren Co, IN. But it has no date and may be for a marriage license to Louis Hatch, as no other record or reference has been found for such a marriage. Her subsequent marriage record to Louis lists her name as Nellie Mae Tripp,
She is buried with Harry Tripp, where the cemetery record lists her as Nettie M. Hatch, reflecting that she married Louis A. Hatch before her death, although her death certificate lists her as divorced. Her Social Security record and Death Certificate show Nettie Hatch and lists her birth as 11 Jun 1898 and her death in Nov 1987, although the headstone shows her birth in 1899.
