EDWARDSBURG - Mary Alice Wells Querry, 88, passed away Monday at 1:00 a.m. at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient facility. Most recently, she had resided in Ft. Myers Beach, FL, and before that Columbus, IN. She was born June 15, 1923, in Bedford, Indiana, to Frank & Pearl McCloskey Wells. On Feb. 24, 1940, in Franklin, IN, she married Harold W. "Jack" Querry, who preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Frances Gould and Evelyn "Dollly" Shumaker, brother, Arthur Wells, and grandson, Peter Stewart.
She is survived by sons, Jack (Linda) Querry of Elkhart and Gregg (John Hendricks) Querry of Port Townsend, WA; daughter, Jill (Robert) Stewart of Kailua Kona, HI; sister, Sara (John) Currey of Columbus; grandchildren, Mark (Laura) Querry of Seattle, WA, David (Tami) Querry of Powell, OH, and Jennifer (Aaron) Mortrud of Pickerington, OH; great-grandchildren, Evan and Abigail Querry of Powell, OH, Nicholas & Matthew Mortrud of Pickerington, OH, and Jonathon "Jack" Querry of Seattle, WA.
Mary attended Columbus High School and the First Christian Church in Columbus, IN, and was a member of the Singapore Yacht Club in Saugatuck MI, where she served a term as Auxiliary President. She loved entertaining on their boat, the "Merri-Jac," in Saugatuck, MI, where they spent their summers for many years. She also loved spending time with her family, playing bridge and going to the movies. Mary and her husband owned and operated the Querrys' Tool, Die and Engineering Company in Edwardsburg, MI, for many years, where she served as the corporate secretary and was one of the driving forces of the company. In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation is planned.
