[Obituary] Reno Gazette-Journal
Charles Eugene "Gene" Clock was born April 21, 1936 in Reno, NV to Frank and Frances (Bremenkampf) Clock. His maternal ancestors were Nevada Pioneers who had settled in Eureka, NV in the early 1800s. Gene attended Northside Jr. High School and graduated from Reno High School in 1954. He then joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Liberty Island in San Diego, CA. After his Navy service, he returned to Nevada where he attended and graduated from the University of Nevada in 1961. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Gene worked for the Washoe County Health Department and ultimately rose to the position of Director of the Environmental Health Division. He then worked for the State of Nevada Department of Water Resources and retired from there in 1992. He married Patricia Woods in Genoa on October 31, 1988. After his retirement, they moved to Bend, Oregon where Gene was a happy farmer, complete with tractor and farm animals. They eventually returned to Gardnerville, NV and then later Reno, NV. In his youth, Gene was a dead eye with a sling shot and and quail who lived around his Maple Street home in Reno were few and far between. He was a hunter in his younger years but gave up that sport to become an avid fisherman. He was a loyal friend and husband. He will be missed.
He is survived by a daughter, Melissa Clock from a first marriage, Patricia Clock, his wife of 33 years, step-daughter Wendy Woods Van Diest and granddaughter Regan Van Diest. At the families request, no funeral services will be held. Donations in his memory can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research
